Will There Be a Future Revival? Part 3 of 3
We have mentioned the great conversion that took place on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). God expected man to retain that great experience down through time. However the church got weaker and weaker, century after century. In 2 Timothy 3:1, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." Now what were the perilous times He was referring to? Was it a time of persecution? No. Notice verses 2-7, "…men shall be lovers of their own selves…Without natural affection, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…Having a form of godliness…Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."
Paul said this all would happened in the last days. Paul first spoke of it in 1 Timothy 4:1, "NOW the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
Apparently we cannot expect a revival to occur in the last days. Thank God, we do see some saved, but not a great number. The scripture seems to reveal just the opposite. May we hold fast to the truth and "not follow any cunningly devised fables… (2 Peter 1:16)"
