Will There Be A future Revival? Part 2 of 3
Many people desire and are praying for a revival, especially in this country. But does the Bible indicate this is going to happen?
Let’s consider some scriptures on the subject. Apparently in Paul’s day the people believed Jesus was coming right back (this is found in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-2). But Paul said some things would have to happen first. Notice verse 3, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;" Our early church contributed this to be the rise of the Papacy and it’s influence on the world. And it appears to be so (see Daniel 7:15-26). The Catholic church caused the falling away.
This does not mean they would give up God, but a falling away from "truth." Since that falling away, that division has affected the church and the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of God’s people. For it has affected their "love for the truth (see 2 Thess. 2:10). God poured out His Holy Spirit once, and He expected man to retain their first relationship, as on the day of Pentecost. On that day they received power, faith and courage.
