Different Kinds of Angels Part 3 of 4
We have been describing different kinds of angels found in scripture. First, we had seraphims, which had six wings. Then we had cherubims, with two wings, and we found angels that had the appearance of man. We would like to examine the nature of these angels.
As we turn to Revelation 22:8-9, we are told, …And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets…worship God. Even though the angels are heavenly beings, they are not to be worshiped.
As we examine the words of Jesus in Matthew 4:10, Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Even though Jesus did receive worship, yet He is pointing the people to God the Father, as the only one to worship. The angels are servants of God, the same as you and I. The angels have no desire to receive any special attention.
