TWO IN THE FIELD Part 1 of 6
In Matthew 24:40 it says, "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." A casual reading of this verse could give the Impression it is referring to the judgment, one was judged righteous and the other judged unrighteous.
But a closer look at the verse, we realize it is referring to workers (ministers) working in the field for the Lord. In John 4:35, Jesus said, "… Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest." Jesus is referring to a spiritual harvest, from the seed of the gospel. One was laboring for the truth, and the other was sowing false seed.
One church is mentioned in Revelation 17:1, 5. "…Come hither, I will shew unto thee, the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters." This church is a harlot church, so it represents a false church, which has workers in the field, giving out a false message, yet sounds like the truth and deceives the people.
This woman (church) is "sitting on many waters." To answer what the waters represent, we look at verse fifteen, it says, "…The waters which Thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." The above woman (church) is the leader of nations and people.
